A Quad Bike belonging to council workers was stolen from the side of an electricity substation in Wem. The Yamaha, registration CX09 DKY, was parked alongside another bike in Whitchurch Road, opposite the junction with Love Lane, when it was taken between about 1.30-2.10pm on Friday. The workmen were clearing road gullies and working a short distance along the road. The bike has a black frame but the shell is mainly yellow. It had been modified so it could accommodate road signs used to manage the traffic. Constable Annie Hughes, who is investigating the incident, said: “Police are examining CCTV from the area and house to house enquiries are also being conducted. “At this stage it has not been established how the vehicle was taken from the scene. “It may have been ridden away or loaded on to or into another vehicle before being driven off. “Anybody who saw persons tampering with the quad bike or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact me at Wem Police Station on 0300 333 3000.” |
